2024 Bond Proposal

On May 7, our community will be asked to consider $22.3 million bond proposal to fund facility improvements throughout the district. If approved, NO TAX RATE INCREASE is expected from the current rate for property owners in the Newaygo district.

Potential projects that would be funded by this bond include:

Prioritize Safety + Security

  • Ensure safe and secure learning spaces with the addition or replacement of aging systems at ALL school buildings:
    • New entrance doors
    • New fire alarm systems
    • Security camera upgrades
    • New public address and bell systems
    • Secure windows

Create Future-Ready Learning Spaces

  • Provide engaging learning experiences for all K-12 students, including:
    • Updates to Newaygo MS and HS
  • Equip learning environments with:
    • Flexible furniture
    • Integrated technology
    • Small group and project-based learning spaces

Improve Infrastructure

  • Replace systems and finishes at the end of their useful life cycle:
    • Upgrade mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (such as boilers, HVAC, controls etc.)
    • Replace roofing, parking lots, and sidewalks
  • New HS gymnasium floor
  • Replace track and fencing at HS stadium

What would happen if the bond doesn't pass?

The bond proposal enables the district to continue to make transformational improvements without sacrificing instructional funds.

Failure to approve the bond proposal would require the district to delay improvements and pay for any emergency repairs to address potential safety issues at district facilities with general operating funds that would otherwise support educational programs for students.
