NPS Dynamic Plan


With all of the great things happening at NPS and the ever-changing regulations and expectations placed upon public schools, the NPS district decided to engage in a process to develop a Dynamic Plan to help guide our work.

In early 2014, employee, parent, and community groups had the opportunity to engage in small-group meetings to participate in SWOT exercises.  SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, & Threats) sessions gave interested people the opportunity to share their ideas with these things in regards to the Newaygo Public School District.

Following the completion of the SWOT exercises, a Task Force gathered for two afternoon/evenings in May, 2014, to begin the work of putting together a draft plan.  This Task Force consisted of staff, parents, administration, community members, and had representation from the school board.  These people worked with a facilitator to put together new Vision, Mission, & Promise Statements for the district as well as establish core values.  From that 3-5 targets and priorities were established for the district.

The Work Continues

In the Fall of 2014, each building will be developing their own 1-year targets and priorities that will fall under the comprehensive district Dynamic Plan.  The goal is to have all of our work keep the district moving in a unified direction.  Finally, our plan is that each employee will develop individual goals to support the building and district goals and priorities.
